One API for all relayted services: pay per request with Lightning, no account

What is this about?

The three relayted services only had a web interface. If you wanted to use them from a script or an agent, you were stuck. That changes now: at api.relayted.de all three are available through one shared API.

  • shots: screenshots in real browsers. Chrome, Firefox, WebKit (Safari), Brave and Opera in their current and previous versions, plus iPhone, iPad and Android.
  • websitepro: a web page as Markdown, plain text, metadata (JSON), clean HTML or PDF.
  • labs: test a Nostr relay against the specification, with a JSON report.

What it costs

Everything is billed in Payloads. 1 EUR = 10,000 Payloads, so one Payload is a hundredth of a cent.

If you pick custom labs checks and they need the known test dataset, that costs a one-time 400 Payloads per wallet. In the Conformance module it is included.

So 5 EUR buy you roughly 1,100 web pages as Markdown, or close to 770 single screenshots. The current price list is always available as JSON at /v1/pricing.

No subscription, no base fee

Almost every API in this space wants a monthly plan, even if you only need 50 calls. Not here:

  • No account. No e-mail, no password, no registration.
  • No credit card. You top up with Bitcoin Lightning, from 0.25 EUR.
  • No subscription, no minimum usage. You pay for what you call.
  • From a 20 EUR top-up you get 10 % extra Payloads.

How to start

  1. Open https://api.relayted.de/account. Your browser gets an anonymous wallet.
  2. Top up and pay the Lightning invoice.
  3. Create your API key with one click and save it.

Then one call is enough:

The answer contains the status, the cost, your new balance and an address to fetch each result. With ?wait=20 it only returns once the job is finished. For a simple page that takes a few seconds.

Built for AI agents

Once a key exists, no human is needed any more:

  • One call, one answer. No polling loop required.
  • Prices are data. /v1/pricing and a free quote per service tell you exactly what a request costs before you send it.
  • An agent can pay. POST /v1/topups returns a Lightning invoice for its own balance.
  • Machine-readable docs. There is an llms.txt and an openapi.json.
  • Stable error codes. Every error carries a documented code a program can rely on.

Fair billing

  • You pay for what is delivered. Every screenshot, output or check that cannot be delivered is refunded automatically and individually.
  • Rejected requests cost nothing. Invalid input, unreachable targets or a full queue are not charged.
  • Free of charge: balance, price list, quotes, job status and downloading your results.

Privacy

  • The key is your only identity. It is shown once and stored only as a hash.
  • For each job the target's host name is kept for 30 days, never the full address.
  • Results are deleted after 24 hours, relay reports after 30 days.
  • No analytics, no third-party scripts.

Important: your API key

There is no account, so there is no "forgot password". If you lose your key, the balance is gone, because nobody can show it to you again. Save it right away. If it leaks, replace it on the account page: the old key stops working immediately, the balance stays.

The API has just launched. It is tested and running, but it has no long track record yet. If something looks off, let us know.
